Guide to CAN-BUS: a smarter systemCAN-BUS or "Controller Area Network BUS" is a two-wire protocol found extensively in new cars and vehicles. This CAN protocol enables communication between internal modules such as the cluster, convenience module & central locking module in order for the vehicle to correctly distribute information. This information super-highway allows for a wealth of information to be extracted from (and written to) a vehicle from a single connection as opposed to having to locate numerous individual conventional wires. It is the exploitation of the CAN-BUS within vehicles that makes a CAN-BUS vehicle security system superior to a conventional alarm.
